William Barclay, one of Houlding's supporters, resigned from the Committee on 29 January. As Houlding had not replied to the Club's final offer by 8 February, Clayton proposed that the Committee should lease the Goodison Road ground. The lease was to be on the terms set out in the report of the Grounds' Sub-Committee which, unfortunately, doesn't survive.
