The materials that football shirts are made out of has changed. In the Victorian era shirts were made out of heavy natural materials, like cotton or wool. When football players took part in a match they would often be asked to bring their own shirt! Sometimes the shirts were dyed to make them all the same colour. Today football shirts are made out of lightweight man made materials. The material is specially designed to keep players cool. Players are given many shirts during a football season, sometimes having special shirts made for important games like F.A. Cup Finals.
