Gibbins reported having had adverse news of this players moral character. Secy. had seen the player in action & did not recommend him, although he had been the best of the Oldham forwards. McDowell (S'land) Mr. W. Laine's letters were read from which it appeared that this L. H. was better suited on a heavy ground. Mainly the reports were very good.
