I (B) To the fact that the City Building Surveyor
required a central stringer being placed
in each of the Staircases leading to the
Upper Deck. These alterations necessitated
a further 100 tons of Steel approximately,
which at the average rate of £12 per ton
would account for £1200 of Messrs Mortons
increased charge.
II Bullens contract: Mr. Leitch had practically
no excuse to offer for the difference herein.
He stated that he did not give the
quantities taken out herein his full
personal supervision. He stated that
his own surveyor had been obliged to
return to Scotland owing to the state of
his health & that he had to employ
a Nottingham Surveyor to take out these
quantities. He regretted to say that a
very grave miscalculation had been made
in the quantity of Brick work & Roofing.
That was his only explanation for the
considerable difference which arose.
He had now received Mess. Bullens a/c
& was employing a neutral surveyor to
check every item thereof & he hoped to have
this a/c ready for submission to the Directors
at their next meeting.
III Concreting, Terracing &c. His Explanation
as to the considerable increase in the actual
over estimated expenditure in this matter, he
could only account for by expressing his
