Memorandum of Agreement
made this day of 1914
BETWEEN ___________________________________________________

(hereinafter called the Player) of the one part and______________________

acting by and on behalf and with the authority of the ____________________
____________________________________________________________
Club (hereinafter called the Club) of the other part and supplemental to
an Agreement of Service between the Player and the Club dated the _______
_________________day of_________________191______ (and hereinafter
referred to as the Principal Agreement) WHEREAS in order to continue
the Competition of the Football League of which the Club is a Member it
has been found necessary to adopt a scheme for the general reduction of
the wages of Professional Football Players connected with the Clubs in
membership with the Football League who are receiving £2 per week and
upwards AND WHEREAS it has been decided by the League that
reduction of Players’ wages in accordance with the following scale of
percentages should be made :—
Players receiving £5 per week .... .... .... 15 %
" " £4 10s. per week .... .... .... 12½ %
" " £4 per week .... .... .... 10 %
" " £3 and under £4 per week .... .... 7½ %
" " £2 and under £3 per week .... .... 5 %
NOW IT IS HEREBY AGREED as follows :—
1. The Player hereby agrees to accept such reduced wages in
accordance with the above scale during such period as the scheme
adopted by the Football League shall be in operation and the
Principal Agreement shall be read and construed as if the wages
therein agreed to be paid had been in accordance with and
subject to the reduction herein provided for.
2. The amount deducted in accordance with such scheme as aforesaid
shall be forwarded by the Club to the League to form part of a
Special Fund to assist Clubs of the Football League in financial
difficulty to pay the wages of their Professional Players.
3. This Agreement shall cease and determine when the Football League
shall put an end to its scheme for the assistance of necessitous Clubs and
shall be suspended or ended at any time on the authority of
the Management Committee of such League.
4. In all respects other than as hereby varied the parties hereto hereby
confirm the Principal Agreement.
