agreed, subject to the approval of the Management
Committee of the Football League, to pay Livingstone
£500 thereout in satisfaction of his presumed
accrued share of benefit. That upon our
enquiring re their player Batten, arrangements
had been made that Batten should be played
in their match on Saturday and that should
we be satisfied with his display, he to be
transferred to us for a fee of £1000. That
Messrs E. Green & J. Sharp visited the Plymouth match
on Saturday & were so satisfied with the display
of Batten that they obtained his transfer at
the fee mentioned & had engaged the player
for the remainder of the current season & for
season 1926-7 at a salary of £6 per week during
the close season £8 per week during the playing
season with a Signing on fee of £10.
The transfer of Livingstone & the engagement
of Batten on the terms above mentioned were
confirmed.
The Chairman gave a report of the deputation
to Plymouth stating that the display of Livingstone
on that occasion was a shockingly bad one, &
one which caused the utmost dismay to the officials
of the Argyle club, so much that in a subsequent
discussion & as a measure of the disappointment
of the Argyle Club with Livingstone, they desired
us to review the terms of such transfer by
waiving the balance payable to us upon the
two transactions. That this proposal had been
discussed at a meeting of our players sub Committee
this afternoon & as a result he, the chairman

display of Livingstone was of so exceptional a
