Reports re Players Messrs A. Coffey & W. J. Sawyer reported that
Roberts & Robinson (Leeds) they did not consider these players good
enough for us.
Evans (Clapton O.) Mr. J. Sharp gave a good report of this back
but it was reported he had been transferred to N'cle.
Hale (Chorley) Mr. E. Green reported that he was not
Scott (Lancaster) impressed with these players.
Steel & Nicholson Messrs J. Fare & J. Weir gave excellent
(St. Johnstone) reports of these players and it was decided
that the Chairman, Vice Chairman, & Secy. watch
them play next Sat. with powers to sign them
on if satisfied.
Haworth (Bolton) Secy. reported that Bolton Wdrs. were not
prepared to transfer this back.
Oakley (S'land) Secy. gave a very good report of this back,
but the Board considered the fee asked of
£4000 was prohibitive.
Waring (Tranmere) Mr. J. Elliott gave a very good report
of this player & also Rimmer (O. L.) of same club.
Coyle (Blyth) Mr. W. Laine reported that he did not
consider this player up to C. L. class.
Journey to Cardiff Secy. reported that there was some
difficulty in arranging journey to Cardiff
on 26th inst. - He was instructed to make further
enquiries & report.
Irvine Letter read from Derby County re this
player - It was agreed that owing to the
earnest enquiries made by several clubs, they
be requested to let us have their best offer.
