[PRIVATE MEETING OF DIRECTORS OF THE EVERTON FOOTBALL
CLUB HELD AT GOODISON PARK ON MONDAY {APL. 20TH 1960}
1960]
PRESENT: —
The Chairman and all other Directors.
The Chairman explained that the Meeting had been
convened without the Stipendiary Officials being invited
to attend at the request of Mr. John Moores in order
to consider the financial position of the Club.
The Chairman thereupon asked Mr. Moores to open the
proceedings.
Mr. Moores stated that he was gravely concerned
with the Club’s financial position which disclosed a
total indebtedness at present in excess of £100,000.
with hardly any liquid resources to discharge it.
He felt that the position could not be allowed to continue
and that stringent and overdue economies must be put
into operation and recommended that a special committee
should be formed charged with the duty of recommending
to the Board as soon as possible what economies they
recommended for adoption.
Mr. Moores explained that he would like to feel
that in raising this matter, he had the sympathy and
support of the Board and those present indicated in a
suitable manner that this was the case.
