AN AFTERNOON WITH... GRAEME SHARP
Liverpool Central Library (Hornby Room), Tuesday 22 December at 2pm (FREE ADMISSION)
On Tuesday 22nd December, Graeme Sharp will be talking about his Everton days at Liverpool Central Library to coincide with The Everton Collection exhibition. There will also be an opportunity to answer questions.
Sharp signed for Everton from Dumbarton for £120,000 in 1980. In his first season, he made just 6 League appearances, but with the arrival of new manager Howard Kendall, Sharp soon became a regular first team striker.
Sharp's greatest achievements were as part of the Everton team which won the 1984 FA Cup, the 1985 and 1987 League Championships and the 1985 European Cup Winners' Cup. In the 1984-85 season Sharp scored 30 goals in 54 matches. After forming successful scoring partnerships with Andy Gray, Adrian Heath and Gary Lineker, Sharp left the Club in 1991 to play for Oldham Athletic.
In 426 appearances for Everton Sharp scored 159 goals, setting a post war goalscoring record for Everton which has yet to be matched. His key role in Everton's 1980s golden era led to his inclusion in Everton's "Greatest Ever Team", following a poll in the club's 125th anniversary.
