A Week in History: 15-21 February

Take a look back at events that happened this week in Everton's long and illustrious history.

15 February
1878 - Jack Sharp was born in Hereford. Sharp made 300 League appearances for Everton between 1899 and 1910. See Jack Sharp memorabilia here.

1890 - Everton defeated Glasgow Rangers 8-1 at Anfield. See the 1890 Rangers programme here.

1977 - Bob Latchford scored the only goal to defeat Bolton Wanderers in the 2nd Leg League Cup Semi-Final. See Bob Latchford memorabilia here.

16 February
1931 - Bobby Collins was born in Glasgow. Collins made his debut for Everton in 1958 and spent four seasons at Goodison before moving to Leeds United. See Bobby Collins memorabilia here.



1985 - Everton knock Telford United out of the FA Cup, although the Goodison crowd of 47,402 ensured the visitors received a £50,000 share of the gate receipts. Read the 1985 Telford programme here.



19 February


1910 - Harry Makepeace and Alex Young score two goals against Sunderland to take Everton into the FA Cup Quarter-Finals against Coventry City. Read the 1910 Sunderland programme here.




21 February
1949 - Former Everton player Jack Taylor was killed in a motor accident. Taylor played for Everton between 1896 and 1909. See Jack Taylor memorabilia here.
