What happened in Everton's history this week?

14 June 1919 -
Joe Peacock joins Everton from non-League Atherton. Peacock made 161 appearances for Everton between 1919 and 1927. He started playing at right half but later played at centre-forward and inside-forward, switching back to wing half, before moving on to Middlesbrough. See Joe Peacock memorabilia.

15 June 1951 - Ken Rea becomes a professional player. Rea worked his way up the junior ranks at Everton before becoming a professional. He went on to make 51 appearances for the first team before moving to Runcorn in 1958. Ken Rea memorabilia.

16 June 1958 - Alex Parker signs for Everton from Falkirk. Parker was still completing his national service in 1958 and soon after signing for the club he was posted to Cyprus with the Royal Scots Fusiliers. Once back at Goodison he went on to make 219 first-team appearances. See Alex Parker memorabilia.

796EFC-26-2-338_000118 June 1987 - Colin Harvey appointed manager. As Howard Kendall suggested to Chairman Philip Carter that he was leaving to manage Athletic Bilbao, Everton appointed Colin Harvey as manager. Harvey had already served the club as a player with 382 appearances between 1962 and 1974. He was also coach to the youth, reserve and first team and so his appointment was seen as a natural progression for the club. See Colin Harvey memorabilia.

19 June 1909 - Everton defeat Spurs 4-0 on tour of South America. Everton and Tottenham Hotspur met for the second time on the tour in Palermo, Argentina. Find out more about Everton's 1909 South America Tour. 

19 June 1987 - Howard Kendall resigns as Everton manager. Kendall announced his resignation after agreeing to take over at Athletic Bilbao, saying "It has been a difficult decision to make but I feel that it is the right one. I have had six tremendous years at the club". The club had already appointed his Goodison successor, Colin Harvey. See Howard Kendall memorabilia.

20 June 1956 - Peter Reid born in Huyton. Reid moved to Everton from Bolton Wanderers in December 1982 for £60,000. Between 1982 and 1989 Reid made 228 appearances for Everton, helping them win 2 League titles and the European Cup Winners' Cup. He was named the PFA's Player of the Year in 1985.
