These boots were worn by Barry Horne, The Everton Collection's new Learning Ambassador. Slightly worn, the Mizuno boots have plastic studs with Barry Horne's initials inscribed on them. The boots were donated to the Collection by Everton F.C. in 2007, along with the rest of the Club's archive.

Barry Horne
Born on the 18th May 1962, Horne played for Everton between 1992 and 1996, making 144 appearances for the Club. As a player, Horne was known for being a midfield ball-winner with a ferocious tackle.

On the final day of the 1993-94 season against Wimbledon, Everton had to win to survive relegation. Horne's stunning long-range goal levelled the score 2-2, with Graham Stuart going on to score the winner to save Everton from relegation. In 1995 Horne won Everton's Footballer of the Year Award, the year he also helped Everton lift the FA Cup.

Horne has also capatined the Welsh national team, making 59 international appearances for his country. Other clubs Horne has played for include Wrexham, Portsmouth, Southampton, Birmingham, Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday, Kidderminster Harriers, Walsall and Belper Town.

Before turning professional, Horne gained a first-class university degree in chemistry from the University of Liverpool. Horne currently works at The King's School, Chester, as a chemistry and physics teacher and director of football. This month, Horne also became Learning Ambassador for The Everton Collection - Click here to find out more.
